We have heard from Lennox Morgan, our parks supervisor, that the Merry Go Round has approval from the city. Yay!!! Thank you to Lennox, Gord Perks, Karen Duffy, Clive Scott and everyone else who worked towards getting this initiative off the ground. Now with the help of one of our biggest and most helpful supporters, Doug Bennett, we will be able to kick off an online fund raising campaign. Stay tuned!
The white line in this photo shows where the new Merry Go Round will be located.
Check out these pics from our amazing revamped community garden at Melbourne Parkette! It has really come together in the last few weeks. This garden would not have been possible without the generous donation of these planters from Conquest Steel. THANK YOU! If anyone would like to join or get some info on this initiative please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
We’ve changed our name! We are now Friends of Masaryk Park & Melbourne Parkette. I’m sure most of you are familiar with this little pocket park located at the Dufferin Ave end of Melbourne Ave. Lots is planned for both parks for the Spring and Summer and we felt that by joining forces we would be able to get a lot more done.
The first great news that we’d like to share with the community is that we have received a very generous donation of 3 large raised planters from Conquest Steel.
Here’s a link to their website.
We have also raised funds to buy one more, bringing the total to 4 planters. These will be perfect for small garden plots. They will be installed at the south end of Melbourne Parkette in the Spring. Sarah Campbell, the has put together a map of where we plan to install them. Take a look and send your comments
We’ll be posting more information in the coming weeks as to how neighbours can reserve a spot and when people can expect to get started. We estimate that there will be enough room for 12-16 people/families.
Wow! FREE after school kids’ environmental food education program for 9-12 year olds. Starts this month at Masaryk Cowan, put on by the always-awesome Greenest City. Please spread the word. email@example.com
Don’t miss out on this great event tonight! Right across from Masaryk Park.
Our Jeremiah Community is partnering up with neighbourhood friends Greenest City to do a “Good Food” themed Halloween Party for kids and families. The party will be simple and aims to create some family-friendly fun around various foods and halloween goodies.
It will be in our space at 201 Cowan Ave (Church of the Epiphany St Mark- South Entrance).
Please pass on to others who might be interested. It’s close by to some great trick-or-treating on Cowan Ave, south of King, so it will be a fun precursor to that!
